50 Totally Random Social Networking Tips

1) Before we dive head first into the social networking pool, I would suggest that
you invest some time on this free podcast: The Personal Branding Checkup.
2) Make sure all your networking efforts pass the six judgments. How you look, how
you act, what you say, how you say it, where you say it, with whom you say it.
Bonus points if you are congruent across all of the judgments brochocho!
3) Broadcasting link after link = lame! Interacting, engaging and responding, now
that’s “social”!
4) What you label as “play by play” might be opportunities to connect in disguise!
Don’t ever forget that!
5) Want to get Retweeted? Then be sure to leave 20-25 characters open so there’s
room.
6) Looking for stuff to tweet? Consider http://stufftotweet.com/
7) Linkedin Status Updates: Remember . . . everyone has a story and wants to be
heard so take time to comment and acknowledge people in your network. What’s
everyone’s favorite subject again?
8) The surest way to your rock stardom is to make others look like rock stars.
Always ask yourself how you can make others look good!
9) Twitter: This is silly but totally worth a mention. Remember to say “thank you”
publicly and with a DM. Always encourage behavior that you’d love to see more
of.
10) Diversify your tweets. I see this with people who only tweet links or only tweet
quotes. A little variety never hurts!
11) Here are several suggestions on how you can Cross Pollinate Your Social
Networking!
12) Facebook has a feature where they will email you all your “friends” Birthdays
coming up in the next week. Who the heck doesn’t like to feel special on their
Birthday?
13) Know when its time to “Get A Room” on Twitter (and I’m guilty of this one) This
happens when you get into this lengthy dialogue with someone and are
completely clueless that you are clogging your follower’s Twitter stream.
14) Understand that virtual relationships should be transitioned to real time. Here’s
how http://yoursalesplaybook.com/how-to-transition-your-linkedin-relationships/
15) Want to search for specific topics on Twitter? Check this out
http://search.twitter.com

16) Be sure to include searches of Facebook, Twitter and even blogs in your
meticulous pre call planning by doing a search on http://wordofmouthmarketting.com
17) Don’t do the “Linkedin Two Step” This is when you accept someone’s invite and
they immediate launch into a sales pitch. Not bueno! Think courtship not singles
bar.
18) Be mindful of rapid fire tweeting. This is when you fire out several tweets within
seconds. Give those other tweets a chance to breathe dude!
19) Be careful overdoing duplication of content across the various social networking
platforms. Example: Posting your blog link on your Facebook Fan Page at the
same time as your personal Facebook account, Linkedin and Twitter. Mix up your
material or you might just bore your audience on several fronts.
20) Your Linkedin status update: Mix it up a bit. Consider posting a useful link, a
quote, a thought and things that demonstrate your personality in a tasteful way.
Continual play by play is also filed under “Not Bueno”!
21) Do a link audit on your profile: I can’t tell you how many times I click on a link on
someone’s profile only to see that they have been inactive on the other site (and
even their blog) for several months. Bad first impression dude!
22) I’ll preface this one with “here we go again” If you don’t have the time to write an
actual invite on Linkedin and you feel you must use the template . . . then you
really don’t have time to connect.
23) Want to be more valuable to your network? Assume the role of “matchmaker”
and put people together who need to know each other.
24) Before you decide to keep Facebook for only close, personal friends, ask
yourself if there’s a way to show more of your “business casual” side without
feeling like you let a stranger into your house. Remember: We tend to hang out
with those we are closest with in numerous places. Its no different in social
networking!
25) File this one under “Duh” . . . turn off all your social networking alerts when you
are trying to get things done. Way too easy to get distracted!
26) Consider preloading a few tweets with an application like Tweetdeck. I’m not
suggesting you go into a full fledged “auto tweet” extravaganza. Its just a great
way to free up some of your time. Note: Just make sure that you circle back to
interact.
27) If the thought of using some preloaded tweets makes you uneasy, how about
creating some of your tweets the night before and pasting them into a word doc
or Yahoo Notes? Saves mucho time the next day and it allows you time to think
things out.
28) Always Think Before You Post!
29) It doesn’t matter that you don’t “get” Facebook, or understand what all the fuss
about Twitter is etc. What matters is that you engage your audience where they
want to engage you!
30) Recipe for looking like a flake on Linkedin . . . ask someone you don’t know and
have never worked with for a recommendation. And yes, it really happens folks!
31) Anyone who doesn’t have a Listening Station set up to maximize their efforts,
kindly report to the principal’s office .
32) Beware of Your Followers to Follow Ratio: On one hand it doesn’t position you
as overly “social” if you have 600 followers and only follow back 75. On the other
hand, following 600 people and having only 75 follows might make you look a tad
hard up. Balance my friend!
33) Want some more cool stuff to tweet? How about some cool motivational quotes
from http://thecustomeradvantage.com/ orhttp://www.brainyquote.com/
34) You can pull your Facebook stats with Status Statistics and even search older
status updates if you are feeling rather nostalgic.
35) Here’s how you facilitate a Linkedin discussion!
36) Status Update Reality Check: Just for the heck of it, take a look at your status
updates. If there is a preponderance of “Me” centered updates, you might be
boring the hell out of lots of people.
37) Want to improve your “Googleability”? Then by all means make your profile
public by clicking here http://www.linkedin.com/craigwseaton
you Google potential clients, don’t you? Think they Google you? This will give
you at least one good result that comes back.
38) Don’t ever begin the week without approaching 5 people from your virtual
network and suggesting a “getting to know you” phone call in real time!
39) Did you know that (according to a study published by Epsilon) emails sent
through social networks have a 24% higher open rate than traditional email?
40) Do you think its more powerful when you promote yourself or when you have
people who dig you so much they do it for you. Ponder that one sista!
41) Linkedin: Let people get inside your head by using the applications such as
amazon bookshelf, slideshare and links to your blog! Bonus points if you if you
make it a point to check those things out on your connection’s profile.
42) Brew a pot of your favorite coffee and check out this way cool podcast on How
To Strengthen Your Social Network No time for that? OK, Plan B, download this
podcast on I-Tunes and take it to go!
43) Here’s another way you can cross pollinate your social networking. Whenever
you accept an invite on Linkedin, respond with a personal email and then cut and
paste your additional contact information such as Facebook, Twitter, your blog
etc.
44) But wait, there’s more . . . You can take that same email with all your additional
contact information and send it to everyone in your network!
45) File this one under common sense but . . . stay away from getting overly
political, religious or controversial in your networking efforts. In other words
SPARE ME .
46) Everyday on Facebook, someone in your network has changed their profile pic,
added new pics, has a birthday, or has mentioned something that is important to
them in some way. Just a reminder for you to notice, then let them know you
noticed!
47) Understand the “Patience/Urgency” thing in Social Networking: You need the
patience to understand that this is indeed a “courtship” and takes time. At the
same time, you need to have the urgency, to work at your relationships regularly!
48) Try asking a thought provoking question in your status update. Oh and then
make sure you stick around for the discussion!
49) Consider using a timer for your social networking activities. Otherwise, its too
easy to get sidetracked.
50) Give to your network, upfront and without a scorecard. Karma is so cool when its
of the good variety!

The Website Builder Pro: Blogging For Money Beginners Guide: "How To Write Your Article?" Blogging For Money Beginners Guide How To Write Your Article? Good question. And, whi...

Blogging For Money Beginners Guide

"How To Write Your Article?"

Blogging For Money Beginners Guide

How To Write Your Article?

Good question. And, while there are numerous suggestions on how to write your articles, there is one important matter which you should consider, and that is the YIN YANG of blogging. Before moving forward, let me give you a brief excerpt of what Yin Yang is: “Something created together in a single movement, and are bound together as parts of a mutual whole.”

Or basically, balance.

Let me ask you something. When you are writing your next article, whom are you writing for? For your readers (Humans) or for search engines (robots)? Blogging for Money unfortunately requires that we do both, although we must write, first and foremost for our readers, and then for search engines. Having this in mind, let’s break this down into a more comprehensible solution.

For Your Readers (The Yin)

1. Unique: Just like our DNA which is unique, I believe that every writer also has it’s unique form of writing. When writing - be yourself, use your own words, share your views, provide your opinion, give your readers emotion and most importantly try to connect with them (e.g. ignite a discussion). In my view, this is what makes an article unique, and nothing else, period. Do not confuse unique with original as they are not the same. Original means that you created the article your own, from scratch and not copied elsewhere.

2. Quality: Focus on what you are writing, and try to stay on your topic. Perform a thorough research before you start telling everyone about something. If you are recommending a product, service or an affiliate program, make an accurate research of what you will be writing about, compile the results, analyze them, and then draw your conclusions. If you had experience yourself, provide proof. This will give you credibility, and unless you gain your readers trust, it will be difficult to gain success.

In addition, avoid distractions on your post (such as ads) directing your readers attention on what you want to say. Adding images that are relevant to your post, are definitely recommended. Articles, such as Paid Reviews, are easily detected by your loyal readers and you want to keep that within a 3:1 ratio (at least). I am not saying here that we should not post paid reviews, but rather, avoid posting successively, one after the other. After all, we are blogging for money Blogging for money: Part 2 of the Reverse Order, will remind you of other useful information.

3. Add Value: Simple math. Add 1 and 2 of the above together and it is almost certain that you will give value to your readers. I wish to recall your attention to the following:

“Your visitors want to read a blog that gives them value and enhances their lives. Your principal motivation when producing content is to focus on these two aspects for your readers. After reading your blog they should feel good and thus, is the first step towards captivating an audience, building traffic and finally making money.”

Ok, so much for the Yin. Now for the Yang.

For Search Engines

The second most important part of writing is optimizing your content for search engines. Search engines drive traffic to your blog and these are the ones that matter most when blogging for money. Why? Because these users are the ones that are looking for something specific. Your regular readers are not (too) interested with your ads or affiliate links so don’t expect them to click that often. Maybe they will if whatever it is you are recommending is red hot:) The point is, what good is it to have quality content if no one will read it. Right?

Enter the Yang. SEO optimization is another important aspect to consider, when writing our articles. Techniques, such as, writing catchy titles, using proper keyword density, etc., are just but a few of various ways you need to know to do your SEO. Where else can you get such a precious source of information but from Mr. G. himself? The Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide and the Google SEO Report Card, made public recently, are great resources and a must read. Whenever possible apply those techniques, if you are seriously considering to achieve balance (Yin Yang).

There you have it, this in essence, is what I believe you need to write a good article. I am sure you also have different views and opinion, and for that purpose, I would like you to share it here, with us..

Getting Free Traffic to Your Domain

Getting Free Traffic to Your Domain

Make Your Marketing Budget Stretch

Craig Seaton- 7th March 2012

You’ve just launched your brand new web site using XSitePro, Dreamweaver or other favorite web building tool, and published it to the Internet. The next thing you want is traffic - and preferably lots of it.

You’ve thought about using pay per click ads to get the ball rolling, but having to pay for traffic means your bank account takes a hit and your profits are decreased every time a visitor clicks through to your domain. How about if you could attract people to your site by using traffic generating techniques that don’t cost a bean!

Free traffic is sometimes viewed as being less effective because you don’t have the ability to fine-tune it like you can with an AdWords ad, honing in on specific keywords and phrases that are only shown to an audience that would care, but it is an avenue you should seriously consider, whether it is for your primary method of generating traffic or in addition to various other methods.

While the free traffic options may not let you pick and choose the keywords in the same way as Adwords would, you can still create content built around specific keywords and phrases so that the pages automatically get indexed for your specific target audience.

Take a Squidoo lens, for example. Squidoo allows you to have multiple free accounts (so that your expertise isn’t diluted) and an unlimited number of free lenses (pages) per account. Take advantage of this opportunity and point every lens toward your own website and you have a frenzy of feeders that funnel visitors from Squidoo to your domain through text links and banner ads!

Article marketing allows you to do the same thing. Write an article based on keywords and phrases you want your website to be found for and then submit it to the various high-ranking article directories for inclusion.

A press release can achieve similar results. While many online press release sites charge a nominal fee for inclusion, some have free options - and they create RSS feeds so that interested publishers can find the content that is relevant to their niche.

Forum posting can also act as a conduit between your target audience and your domain. Join the forums for your topic and include a link to your website in your signature file. Don’t give your web site blatant plugs in any posts you make as this is usually frowned upon (unless it is relevant to a particular thread on the messageboard), but the inclusion of your web site url in your signature (i.e. The bit that appears at the bottom of each of your posts) is usually fine.

A spin-off benefit of the forums is that as you participate in group discussions not only will your traffic will steadily increase, but your reputation as an authority figure to your target audience will be given a massive boost too. Don’t forget to add a link to your web site into your forum profile, too! Profiles are the perfect tool to help channel people to your domain.

The above are just a handful of ways that you can generate a stream of free traffic to your web site. Unlike paid for advertising, the response will not usually be immediate, but over time, and with sufficient effort, you will generate a constant flow of traffic to your site and it won’t cost you a single cent.

35 Ways To Prospect More

35 Ways To Prospect More
Creatively

Hey there . . .
Thanks for stopping by to check out these tips to help you hunt for business
more creatively.
As with everything I do on Sales Playbook, there are no strings attached,
no catch, no hidden agenda.
If you like the tips, feel free to pass them along to your network and if you
don’t, then this E-Book deserves a trip to the round file.
Thanks again and happy selling!
With respect & appreciation,

Craig Seaton

1) Consider using a “Quirky Calendar” and leverage the power of a “National Thank
God It’s Monday” day and numerous other reasons for you to connect with a non
responsive prospect!
2) Make a humorous Top 10 List as to why someone hasn’t returned your call or
why they would want to do business with YOU!
3) Give that boring calendar you give out a very cool make over. Have each month
designed with a theme of you trying to get in to see your prospect (complete with
your prospect’s name in the design) Example: One month you could have a hitch
hiker holding a sign “Need to get to (Your Prospect’s Name) Office” Perhaps you
could play the themes in with the seasons or non religious holidays?
4) Get a giant cookie from your bakery and have them write “I want to take a
bite out of your business” Note: This can also turn into a handy dandy Thank you
when you get a new client or even an order from a client. You could change it to
read “Thanks for letting me take a bite out of your business”
5) Send a Telegram
6) Send a personalized singing email.
7) How about some Customized M & M’s ?
8) Send a lottery ticket with a note that reads “Why gamble on (fill in what you
do)” When you call to follow up have some fun and ask them if they won!
9) Get some sunglasses, a cd with some good rock songs and print up some All
Access Passes they can use for a tour of your facility. Play on that theme with a
message like: "I take pride in making my clients look like rock stars!"
10) http://klutz.com has a superhero starter kit complete with mask, cape etc.
.Consider sending that to a prospect as a follow up to the rock star approach.

11) Send some ice cream or one of these way cool sundae kits http://www.send-
ice- cream.com/ Thank you Jamie McLennan !
12) Try this two step approach: Leave a voicemail that you will be in the area on
(date) and will stop by with some things of value and to say the worlds quickest
hello. Take a gift bag and fill it with some literature, a pen with your logo, a pad,
your business card etc. Drop by to see your prospect and present them with the
goodie bag.
13) Purchase one of those prepaid cell phones. Send it to your prospect and tell
them a time you will be calling on it and give a specific day and time.
14) Consider having the balls to send a ball (another cool idea from Jamie
McLennan)
15) Go to http://www.choconet1.com/chocolate-foot.html and order chocolate feet
for $2.50 ea. Send them to your prospects with a note that reads “I’d like to get a
foot in the door”
16) Take that letter you were about to stuff into an envelope with your company
name and logo and use a colored envelope instead. Hand address that bad boy while
you’re at it. It will resemble personal correspondence and have a higher probability
of getting opened.
17) Take a picture of you staring at the phone with a caption “Wondering if today
is the day you will call me” Fed Ex it so it arrives separate from and doesn’t blend
in with the other mail.
18) For a more personal touch when sending information, place post its with
handwritten notes.
19) Consider sending something that is representative of your geographic area to
folks who are out of the area. Example: I know someone who sends their clients
and prospects Pretzels someone else sends Maple Syrup etc.
20) Next time you are rejected on the phone, but you at least had a friendly
conversation, send a handwritten thank you. Note: You obviously won’t win a
creativity award on this one but you will stand out simply because hardly anyone
does this!

21) Sales Leadership: Send a note to your entire sales organization asking for at
least 2-3 creative door openers. Compile a list of all the new cool ideas that get
generated and send everyone a PDF!
22) Send greeting cards at off holidays (July 4th, Labor Day, Halloween,
Thanksgiving etc
23) I know someone who drops off carnations for all the moms she has as
prospects the Friday before Mother’s Day. How can you leverage a holiday in this
type of fashion?
24) Call the wrong extension and ask for your contact. Once they tell you that you
have the wrong extension, ask to be transferred. Transferred calls look different
on the caller ID than typical calls and you might just get through.
25) Send your prospect a humorous letter with options as to why they haven’t
gotten back to you. You can even create a while you were out message.
26) Carve time out each day to think quietly. Ask yourself the following question
“In what ways can I be more creative?” This is a great creative brainstorming
question for you to ponder. You can even make it more targeted by rephrasing it
like this “In what ways can I creatively approach (name of account).
27) Go for a walk or exercise while asking yourself that same question.
28) Study creative people. Pick their brain or just study them from afar. I won’t
tell anyone!
29) Have someone video you doing a quick 3 minute intro of who you are, and a kick
ass elevator speech. Tell them a specific day and time you will call to set appt.
Include popcorn and candy to make it festive.
30) How about a “Mission Impossible” type of theme where you send a series of
things including that 3 minute intro, a Fed Ex or Telegram and maybe even give
yourself a kick ass theme song from this royalty free music site.
31) T.G.I.F. Kit: Create a kit of fun things for your prospect. Perhaps some candy,
funny sunglasses, a funny book or comedy cd, etc. Drop it off nice and early. Write
your cell number on your card so hopefully you get the thank you call before you
are out of the area.

32) Have some cheesy fun by picking up any or all of the following and tailoring a
corny message: Payday candy bar, mints, Mounds, seeds, nuts etc. Example attach a
note to a Mounds candy bar with a message centered around you saving them
mounds of extra work etc.
33) Add this phrase to any of the above “(name) If you think I’m working hard to
get your business, you are 100% right. Think about how hard I’ll work to keep your
business!”
34) Sendout Cards has some really cool customizable cards you can send to your
clients and prospects. You can also send starbucks cards and various treats along
with your card! Note: That link will take you directly to Craig Wilson’s Send Out
Cards site. He’s been a member of our Sales Playbook community from day 1 and I’d
like to hook the guy up!
35) Ask yourself this question every day: “How will I be memorable today?”
